Organization

Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth (CASRE) was founded in 1992 by decision of the Presidium of National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine, as an independent juridical person. Currently there are about 70 employees in the Centre among those two Corresponding Members of the NASU, 8 doctors of science, 17 candidates of science and 5 PhD.

CCUSE

The Center for Collective Use of Spectroradiametric Equipment (CCUSE) was created at CASRE for the most rational use of unique scientific spectroradiometric devices.

Application of RS data in agriculture

  • Inventory of crops
  • Estimation of agricultural state (phenological observations, provision of crops with mineral fertilizer, moisture, determination of biomass and productivity)
  • Prognosis of yields

Creation of scientific bases of aerospace environmental monitoring of the territory of Ukraine with the development of physical and mathematical models of energy-making processes in geosystems.

November 5, 2025 during a secondment under the project EWALD - 101086250 “Earth Observation for Early Warning of Land Degradation at European Frontier” by CASRE researchers: Prof. Sergey STANKEVICH, Cand.Sci. Iryna PIESTOVA, Cand.Sci. Anna KOZLOVA, Cand.Sci. Olga SEDLEROVA conducted a training workshop for students of the Department of Informatics of the University of Žilina, during which students gain knowledge on the European Copernicus data space ecosystem, the higher-lever Earth observation data products, the open-source geoinformation software for Earth observation data handling, the satellite data acquisition and analysis with the Google Earth Engine catalog.
